I have a 2003 l322 HSE TD6. I was towing my caravan the other day, got home and unhitched and left to collect my son from school. I noticed that the engine was a lot noiser than it had been previously, its making a whoosing sucking noise on accelleration but sounds normal when idle... kind of like a really powerful fan being turned up and down when accellerating. Also a small whistle noise when i take my foot off the throttle. I have had a poke around under the lid today and couldnt find any hoses loose or split, what i did notice is that the belt for the air con pulleys is missing. Surely this cant be causing the problem??

Second issue, only had the car a few weeks, since i got it i have noticed that when locking and unlocking the hazards dont flash so i dont think the alarm is arming, the car only reacts to the key button being pressed once to lock it... the central locking works but thats about all it does, any further pressing of the button does nothing. I have tried changing the battery in the key fob, still doesnt work.

Any ideas anyone?

i think it is the viscous fan as you mentioned, i have just done the newspaper test on it which i saw on another forum and its shredded the newspaper up.

As for the set up with the lights flashing, i dont have a manual and cant seem to find a download for it. I have double pressed the lock button but nothing happens

Does anybody know if the 4.4 v8 viscous fan set up will fit the td6?? Or is it a completely different unit?
