HID ballast - can anyone answer my questions??

My post has had plenty of views but no replies, can anybody help? Thanks.

Morning all, I need to call on the collective wisdom of the forum please. I have tried a few searches but can't find answers to my questions. Having recently lost a (non-AFS) headlight due to a pheasant strike I managed to buy a pair of AFS lights via the forum. As I wanted the lights to look the same I replaced both, with no problems other than adjustment but that's another story. I have spoken to various people over the last few weeks and I have a few questions:
- Is the ballast 'coded' to the specific vehicle? I have been told that I need to fit the original ballasts to the replacement lights in order for them to adjust automatically.
- Should AFS lights on a non-AFS Fatty be self-levelling?
- Should non-AFS lights be self levelling, or does the suspension do all the work?
- Now that I've fitted AFS lights can I enable this functionality on my RR? I have been told that this can be done via an Autologic tool.

If there's anything else relevant then please pass it on. Thanks in advance for your help. 1982 SIII 88” diesel
