Buying used advice

Considering to buy (or lease) an used one to replace my Discovery 3 and really need advices

What should I avoid (specific model, year etc)?
What should I check?
What are the known/common issues?

In my future I might leave the UK so wwhat is the best option to buy? Would like to avoid to pay all cash as I would then have to re-sell it if I need to go (unless I buy a LHD car)

I think perhaps you need to give a bit more detail regarding your intended use and preferences and we can try and give advice based on that. Will you be part chopping your D3 or is it a stand alone purchase, what's your budget etc. Thumbs Up 2016 SDV8 Autobiography
And several others previously.

Sorry for the lack of details

Ideally would like to give in my Disco 3 (LHD HSE, 2006, 70000 miles). For the budget I was thinking about payment of about 600 pounds a month but no idea if that is realistic and I can add cash if needed

Use is family use. long journey in EU, family trip with dogs (2 1 medium and 1 small) in the weekend. Even if I would love a big petrol engine I think the 3 liter diesel would be sufficient

As mentioned might be moving to EU so would need the potential to live the car (or eventually keeping it if I can find a LHD but in that case I would need to close/change the lease/financing)

Was looking at What car and ity says that it has high mainteinance cost, what is mainly driving those costs?

I doubt any main dealer will give you a decent price for a LHD Disco - a bit too specialist.

Maybe you would be better buying one from the country you intend to move to & bring it to the UK for a while ?

I've found the maintenance costs quite low so far
