EGR Cleaning

I decided to clean up my egr valve today, as after 120k ish miles thought it would be quite bad

I didn't think it was too bad, or was it?

Cleaned it up, forgot to get a photo before I started refitting it, so this is the best I got

Also I'm not sure if it shows in that picture but blanked off the vacuum pipe so it's no longer active!

Not sure if it's me being excited, but it defo feels more responsive and quieter, smoother and my average mpg which hasn't been touched for 400 miles went up 0.3mpg on my way home from work (6 miles)

Next job is fitting vortex crankcase filter, even though I changed the cartridge 6 months ago interested to see what it's like
now, and oil change.. got some expensive Castro stuff!

Blanking off the vacuum line still leaves the internal valve assembly inside the EGR, this further restricts air flow. best to fit a blanking kit or somehow remove the obstruction inside.

Also, if the valve is physically stuck open then blocking the vacuum line will have no affect. The proper EGR delete kits are available for less than £30. I need to try a kit on mine, because it is still smoking badly.
