Mine did - a few thousand - I narrowed my search down to 3 on the used LR site, then called around explained where I was at & played them off a bit. I was also trading in so it was a difference to change price. |

I didn't get anything off the sticker price but did get a few bits and pieces thrown in, my new private plates made up, a tank of fuel and don't forget the dealers contribution to credit that can be paid off immediately without penalty.

With any negotiation, the first thing to do is establish that you're committed - I made sure the car was available & I could do the deal by a certain date. I told them I was considering others & my expectation was that I would describe my trade in car & send photos, then expected to turn up - and assuming that both cars as described - do the paperwork & drive away.

Sometimes they will offer a lower price if you take out a credit plan.

I think technically it's now illegal for them to offer a discount to persuade you to take out a credit agreement but in reality any "credit" discount will just be part of the overall package and listed somewhere else.
I agree. In my experience if they know you are serious when you walk in you are more likely to get a deal. Salesman's worst nightmare is someone who turns up, wastes an hour or two of their time looking at various cars then says they can't commit because wife/husband/cat has to see it first..... 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography (2021-2024) - Santorini Black 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster (2016-2021) - Santorini Black |

So if you do take the credit deal and pay it off do you then lose out if they have covered it elsewhere?

No, because as soon as you've bought the car and left the dealer your contract is with the finance company. The dealer has his money for the car up front.
