2011 rotary gear selector

Hi, the rotary gear selector in my 2011 tdv8 decided to stay in reverse this weekend. I believe these can be problematic on the later models like the l405. As they only fitted the rotary to the late l322 I cant find a lot of other members issues. Can you supply a new unit and does it have to be programmed? Obviously I cant move the car. Many thanks, Al

I have had a similar problem with my 2011 tdV8.
Mine was stuck in P after being parked up for a few weeks.
I cleared it by cycling between high and low ratios and eventually it allowed me to move out of P and hence start the car and drive it in all gears.
The problem has never re-appeared to date after a couple of years.
I put a post on here describing the problem at the time, but sorry, I can’t find it.

Hi BB,

Thanks for the reply.
I was actually in low box reversing my trailer when it happened.
Went to put it into drive and nothing, locked in reverse.
IID indicated a gear selector solenoid lock failure.
Eventually I had to switch the car off.
Then I couldn't start it because it was in gear Crying or Very sad Had to leave the car stuck overnight.
I got the module out and stripped it down.
Solenoid works fine powered off a 9v supply so must be on the board.
Rebuilt unit back into park, and managed to start the car but no gear selection.
At least I got the car home via a tow and the transmission release lever.

Every day is a school day owning a RR!

I see a number of evoke and velar owners have had the same issue.

Cheers, TF
