It's possible that the universal joint on the rear propshaft is worn/damaged. I had the same problem with my TD6, discussed in my recent post on a rumbling noise under hard acceleration, The clunk I got was due to the universal joint giving slightly when engaging reverse gear. |

I will have a wee read of your post shortly. Is it a big repair? Probably one job I will pass over to my mechanic mate tbh.. love working on the car but after doing some research on this I'm out my depth.. 👍 |

Replacing the propshaft is not a big job, takes about an hour tops to do. If you can't stomach the cost of a new shaft with centre bearing (about £800 for a genuine LR shaft ) there are plenty of good second hand ones to be had. I got a really good 2nd hand shaft from ebay for £90 from the Furness Car Company. |
