The weirdness of windows

My rear offside window takes four button pushes to either open or close it. It always stops in the same place either up or down the auto ope/close works but only to these four places where it stops. You can't repress the button immediately or nothing happens you have to wait for a few seconds (at least 20)
I've tried winding to the bottom to do the reset on memory as suggested elsewhere, which I've done, I've also had the battery on and off (for different jobs) but its exactly the same.
Any ideas ? Geoff

It sounds as though the window is sticking at the same place(s) each time and then the motor cuts out due to overheating.

After 20 secs it resets and operates to the next sticking point.

You could try silicone lubricant on the window sides to see if it improves, but you will probably end up having to strip and lubricate everything to resolve the problem.

One thing though - is the window frame correctly aligned to the door
