Hi guys, can anyone throw a little light on my noise......
My TDV8 2009 vogue started with a squeak a few weeks ago which i located to the top front of the engine, just in front of the oil filler and a few inches down..  ......i thought it was a bearing on the alternator or its tensioner belt so figured it could wait.
Tonight with no tunes on and the window down i thought it sounded a bit rough so popped the bonnet and now its more of a chain rattle, again comming from the top front of the engine, i think im right that the engine has a tensioner for the duplex chain at the top and bottom.
Is it hydraulic or mechanically tensioned, is this common and finally ....how much are they going to rape my wallet for!!
