Right guys, I'm looking for some advise on where I can safely take my nice shiney RR for some non damaging off road fun. I've been to quite a few pay and play sites in the past and every time I've damaged my vehicles is some way. Last time I smashed my previous disco 2 front bumper at silverdale pay and play. My old Range Rover classic got damaged at Avon dasset a few times also. After that I ended up modifying that into an off-roading beast. I've done various lanes over the years which took less damage but in the FFRR I really don't want to damage it at all. The only time I never damaged my vehicle was Cannock chase with Bofa 4x4 in my RR Classic when I first got it. Can't seem to find them now though. Although I have found another trip around Cannock chase with the Rangers but not much info on that.

Thing is I can't own a Land Rover product and not know what it can do in the sticky stuff. The RR is king off-road and I want to enjoy all aspects of its ownership. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the disco 2 was standard with just BFG all terrains on. It went places I didn't think possible in a standard landy. I only have the FF on the road and the soft dash classic I will be restoring won't see any mud.

I'll also be taking the kids as my little boy who is 4 keeps asking me to take him off roading, so I want to make a day out of it for the kids and the misses. I'd be up for day out with some from on here if anybody fancies some non damaging fun in their FF also. 2004 RR 4.4 V8 Autobiography

I used to belong to Hants and Berks Land Rover Club, and took my black SC Vogue green laning. It certainly raised a few eyebrows, but went everywhere the 90's did without so much as a scratch, and it was better at wading than some of the Rover V8 powered motors there too !!
A lot of ALRC clubs hold green lane days and play days that are non damaging. Might be worth joining the local club up your neck of the woods Tony

We did some last year in your neck of the woods. A splendid day out.

In broad terms the route started from Gaydon, across Warwickshire, into Northamptonshire and then back into Warwickshire via Rugby ending at a pub in Brinklow. It was with another club but we will probably repeat it this year. Was a bit scratchy in one place but I managed to avoid damage by straddling the ruts to stay off the hedges.

There are lots of lanes all over the country, I have been on loads in the FFRR. The Land Rover International magazine used to always publish routes every month. You can always get in touch with your local council they will have someone who deals with this side of life, they will be able to tell you which routes in their area are in use or have prohibitions on them.

Paul, try joining a club and entering the non damaging trials, RTV is for road taxed vehicles but you may get the odd scratch, there is a class (or was) specifically for road motors that want to suffer zero damage. I trialed with Midland Off Road club for years and found them to be very good. http://www.midlandoffroadclub.co.uk/index.php

You also get to watch the nutters in full modified trying to scale vertical cliff faces (my class ) which will occupy you for a while

As your'e shiny and want to keep your paint intact I'd stay clear of green laning unless you know them already.

I like "pay and play" days, quarries etc are very good, they are nice and open, you can do as little or as much as you want while also keeping out the way of everyone else.
