These things come in three's so what's next?

Last week the PAS blew a leak and cost me £500 to fix, got it back home on friday 5pm

On saturday morning I'm out shooting and somehow a car flicks up a piece of gravel no doubt and it hits my drivers side front window. What are the chances?

Look what happened: Got to wait till the 31st until it can be replaced. Shocked

Its laminated glass on the front side windows which will crack like the front screen, why have you got to wait until the 31st? I have a windscreen replacement company here in norfolk miles from you i know, but if it helps we have the glass in stock and could probably arrange to get it to a windscreen company closer to you.

Many thanks for the offer, but it all stems from the insurance company's preferred fitting company i.e. AutoWindscreens. In order that I don't pay over the odds and just the £50 excess I have to go through them.

The local dealer could get the glass in 2 days, and the glass isn't the problem for AW, its the schedule, as so many people need repairs etc due to the icy weather. Oh well, its not fallen out yet. Discovery 4 HSE

Last christmas when driving down to the alps i had the roofbox mounted. Driving on the autobahn i had a small stone chip my front window and it went up underneeth the roofbox and it cracked the whole panoramic roof on my cayenne. That set me back almost 10 000 punds. Good start on the vacation. Big Cry

I had the same problem with my side window in the old car RRUK.

Going through roadworks and a stone came out of nowhere and cracked the outside pane on the laminated glass of the passenger front door window.

It was about £350 to fix (supply and fit) as I refused to let anyone other than my local Land Rover garage fix it. I paid it myself rather that have some numpty pulling my FFRR apart.

Fox, the problem these days is you take it to a LR Dealer and they set the apprentices all over it, learning on the job while reading RAVE or another workshop manual, so in some ways, the Autowindscreen type fitters at least do it every day of their job and have seen most things before. Discovery 4 HSE

A short update:

Had the window replaced by Autowindscreens. Everything was going well until the fitter commented on how easy it was going. Next thing we know, flat battery. Big Cry

A day later I scuffed an alloy wheel, so there's my 3 things all done I hope.

I had to join the AA in order to get it boosted as the Censored jump leads I had were as useful as chocolate money. Might invest in a Machine Mart battery boost starter. Discovery 4 HSE
