United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV6 Montalcino Red
incorrect Diesel Exhaust Fluid quality detected ( SORTED)

had this warning appear on dash yesterday - immediate panic

checked service screen its says I have some 530 miles until it needs topping up & 9,000 til next service due in Nov 2017
plugged iid tool in - NO mention of the DEF ?

I am concerned as I had this topped up at 1st service with JLR in Nov 2016 mileage was 2,300, I checked it then is said 17,000mls before topup ! I have only done a total of 2,750 ( since new ) so very surprised car shows only 530 miles left
car is l405 tdv6 3.0 16months old

have read up all I can find about the Add Blue issues - most talk about topping up tank - but there is mention on the disco forum of DEF system needing a software update

the car is booked in for various " vehicle enhancements", but there is no mention of or upgrading of DEF system
checked TOPIX it says there is an activity stream ? for
SSM73316 3.0 - tdv6 - dtc's P2BA9 and/or P20EE - EU6 Emmision vehicles

my concern is it clearly states the word "quality " not " top up" does the quality of the add blue deteriorate with time ?
I have ordered 4 bottles of the LR fluid - hoping that topping up will resolve problem,

can anyone spread any light on this or have any opinons ? should I call LR assistance ?

googled P2BA9 and P20EE found they relate to quality of the DEF - so may well need to contact JLR various other LR's this one is still the best

Quality??? It's 67% purified water and 33% urea (from pig's wee) . Not sure how the quality could deteriorate unless a contaminant has been introduced. I have seen a RRS with this; someone topped up the AdBlue with screenwash by mistake. The RRS AdBlue filler is under the bonnet so an easy mistake to make I guess.

Given the car is so new and low mileage I would have LR Assist out to it if it were mine.

Thanks MZPLCG took your advice and called LR assistance this morning - they knew of the problem, which was useful
technician arrived 3.30pm he was confident he would be able to resolve quite quickly, he pressure tested, primed & reset the DEF quality monitor, 20 mins later all back to normal ( minor panic over)
service screen now reads 19,500 miles until refill required

This is the first time I have used them and I have to say I'm very impressed with the service various other LR's this one is still the best

They are well practised but sometimes quite elusive Whistle

I had the same issue at about 4k miles from new. My dealer said it was because my oil was getting contaminated due to the DPF regeneration not completing. They swapped the oil out under warranty, now at 16k and no issues since. 2021 L405 Vogue D300
