RSW ALL COMMS WARNING

Well after bearing great story's about the all comms cable I went ahead and purchased a used one from another member, I contact story Wilson as many other on here have, but now Mr Wilson want $150 to transfer ownership

Now I understand the guy can't work for free however once an item is purchased you should be free to do with it what you wish, I would be more than happy to pay for support but to have to pay for software to use it full stop is a little harsh

Can the original purchaser not just pass on the registration code that was originally provided by the software and cable manufacturer? That's what I did when I sold one on recently to another member on this forum. The software has the ability to remove registration from one computer, so releasing the licence to be re-used. It worked just fine and the software manufacturer has no way to tell whether it's me re-installing it on another computer or someone new. Current: 2010 Range Rover L322

The previous owner needs to recind his licence with Storey and tell him he has sold it to you. The cable needs provenance. The problem is the chinese fake leads that have been made to rip him off. (Whilst I agree it is a bit sharp of Storey to behave this way to a bone fide owner of one of his leads!)

Can you not send him images? You may have to dismantle the cable as there are no defining marks. .

I have no question about the cable being genuine, it came from another nember from hereI have given storey the previous owners email address to reregister it, storey simply pointed me to his website where half way down it says new registrations are $150

I understand he needs to make.money but to make a cable useless without a subscription is poor

£25 to transfer an IID tool to another vehicle and £60 to ADD another vehicle to it, so it does seem a bit steep.. Pete

Those sort of prices I would have no issue with, and I'm sure the old tool will do something to a car without subscription even OBD read? This cable does nothing without subscription

From what I figure out of it all, RSW give you an activation code, this code is yours to be used on 1 machine at anyone time, if you change laptops it's not an issue you can deregister 1 machine then register another, however I'm guessing if your machine was to fail / get lost this would be difficult to do, you would then have to contact RSW for him to help with deregistering your damaged device

The software can not be ran inside a virtual.machine and would not install on a windows XP machine with VM ware installed from what I am told
