Fitting Aero Wipers

Always been a fan of "aero" wipers so as I needed new ones on the FFRR decided to swap to these. Read a couple of posts on here and ordered some from these guys http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360919244512?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT - no personal connection, were recommended by another forum member but price seemed fair and they arrived promptly etc. No packaging as such just wrapped up securely in cardboard so am guessing they get them made in bulk.

Couldn't find much on how to fit so thought I would take a few pics.......

As you probably know the FFRR wipers have an "odd" fitment with a locking lever like this:

Basically slide the lever up to an unlock position (1) and then the wiper blade will drop off the arm with a little persuasion (2).

You can then see the plastic shroud that includes the lever and you will see it is secured to the arm by two lugs that pop into holes in the arm

You can depress/lever these in to release the shroud from the arm leaving you with this

Note the spoiler that is fitted on the drivers side wiper comes of with this fitting and can't be re-used on the new wipers.

One came out easily and the other required a bit more force, it doesn't matter if the metal ends of the arm spread a bit so you don't need to be too gentle. If you do see the ends of the arms have become spread out just use a pair of pliers to bend back in.

The new wiper looks like this:

and you can see this also has two lugs on it. The idea being you slide this over the arm and the locating lugs lock into the end of the arm and hey presto Razz

I did end up squeezing the lugs in a bit to make the fit a bit tighter.

Only fitted tonight so can't give much of a perfromance report other than they clear the windscreen better than the previous one, will give it a few months and update Very Happy

Cheers,

MM
