RTX Alternator - Any views

Hi all,

My 4.4V8 2004 has seized it's alternator I think. I'll be working on getting it off today.
I see Euro Car Parts show "Bosch" Denso and RTX brands. The latter being a) cheaper and b) not requiring an exchange.
Any views on RTX alternators?

Having a quick Google, they don't seem the most reliable, but depends if you are price driven.

I think Denso and Bosch are both good brands. I do know my friend bought an alternator for his Toyota, he got it from Euro Car Parts.. the plug on his car and the alternator were different requiring some soldering, not sure whether you are meant to!

If you can afford it, I'd go for one of the other brands if you're in a rush, or on a budget!

Thanks everyone,

Euro Car Parts have a 30% discount so they seemed to be the cheapest for a Bosch unit. Cost £354 inc VAT so not that bad. I bought a new battery (Bosch S3) and drive belt at the same time.

I ordered yesterday (Friday) for click and collect on Saturday for free so saved both on carriage to me and carriage for the old returned unit.

Apart from the usual appalling service at the ECP counter I think it was the best way. It should really be called "click, wait about 1 hour while they turn the whole place over for your order, then collect" But I suspect many more have moaned about them.

Just putting it back together now.

Thanks

My bearings failed about two weeks after I bought the car, bought a Bosch recon from ECP also with 30% off.
Turned out the alternator had a fault that only affected the rectifier when it warmed up, took it back to ECP and they exchanged it with no issues at all.
All working fine charging correctly 👍🏻😀 well apart from the parasitic drain 😡😡 pulled fuse 49 and no drain, so pulled the plugs out of the Lear and they are nice an damp and a lovely green colour, but the radio and sat nav still work. 2004 4.4V8 Vogue
