England 2009 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black
whine from engine

Hi guys..

Yet again i feel the need to ask the collective for their wisdom...

my recent buy, a vogue 09, with 74k f.m.d.s.h has suddently developped a whine....., now....when static in P or N its there when i rev her,..... its there on exceleration and changes tone with the gear changes, so...i could only think its coming from the torque converter....

however...i got my daughter to rev her to 1500rpm whilst i crawled under her and its not coming from the box area at all!......im guessing the alternator is mounted just in front and to the left of the oil filling point?.....thats where its coming from....the alternator was changed two years ago at a cost of around £800....but if that what it is thats what it is.......any tips or advice to see if im barking up the right tree?.....im only guessing at this point as it was getting dark, but its from the front of the engine.......and has that belt/bearing sound...

cheers..
