Don't get too cocky !!!

After 12 months of trouble free ff motoring, off me and the good lady go with the caravan to Beechwood Grange, York, for a weekend of Christmas merriment !!
Accompanied by some mates in their vans and motorhome.
Come Sunday morning, I opens the tailgate to sit on and enjoy me coffee and bacon buddy, ( you know what's coming) and, hey presto, half hour later I come to hitch up, and it won't start.
So it's out with the battery pack and it kicks up straight away.
Surely half an hour with the tailgate up ain't gonna cause too much of a problem?
The ff has only been stood 48 hours and the battery is less than a year old !!
I love this car, BUT issues like this really make me think is it worth it !!!
Never had this trouble with my old D3 in five years of ownership . Shocked
My mate with the Kia Sorrento took the Censored as well, and that hurts Laughing

I have suffered similar, camping all weekend, tailgate open regularly/extended periods

If I have the tailgate open for a long lime now, I latch the upper tailgate lock shut (two clicks)

LED illumination would also be an option Regards

I did, with both my D3s. Both ended up with dual batteries.

Yes, he can take the pee, on the odd occasion. All the rest of the time you are in the Fatty, feeling fine and he's in a clattery Korean POS. As Churchill pointed out to his housekeeper when she chastised him for being drunk, "Yes, Madam, I am drunk, and you are ugly. But in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly"

So, stuff to do.
LED conversion inside the car, all 83 million of the interior lights. With filament bulbs at 5 watts each it's like leaving a headlight on all the time.
Dual battery conversion. It's in the WIKI and it gives another 60 or 70 amp hours of capacity. Use a 300 amp relay, fire it from a terminal which goes live when the engine is running and put an over-ride switch on it. If you ever get a low starting battery flick the switch, leave a couple of minutes and she will fire up fine.

I trend to avoid split charge relays as they have diodes in usually and there is a voltage drop across a diode of at least 0.7 volts, 1.4 volts for a rectifier. Relays don't drop, they just connect.

Get the CCF reprogrammed to not put all the interior lights on when the boot is open, they only stay on for 16mins with it open so you must have done it several times to reduce the battery voltage that far...

I changed all my interior lights for LED and haven't had a problem since.... Pete
