Smell and whine

Hi all,

Misses came home from work and said the car has developed a whine in series with the throttle and outside of the car I can smell a oil like smell but nothing on the floor.

No faults showing up on diagnostic tool so what can it be.

I'm hoping its a split hose somewhere and not a turbo because just had the EGR valves changed after they developed a fault.

Any ideas? Range Rover quotes.....

check the top hose for a split

what kind of whine? could be a tensioner or one of the pulleys at the front of the engine, these will whine if the bearings are going, in that set are the alternator, the PAS pump and the AC along with several idlers and the belt tensioner.

have a listed to the engine while it is whining and see if you can pinpoint where the noise is coming from. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
