Auto Code EGR emulators vs. EGR delete

Anyone in the UK using these?

I am thinking of ordering a pair for my 3.6 TDV8 before it goes into JE for a remap. JE will do an 'EGR delete' as part of the remap for a small additional charge, but I wonder if the emulators are a better solution as the ECU will still 'see' the valves.

Also, are either of the above options going to definitely avoid any chance of the EGR valves grenading and chucking shrapnel into the engine and/or turbos?

Any opinions much appreciated, thanks!

Jorrocks.

When emulators are fitted the egrs are completely disconnected so they will be fixed in the closed position. If they are not operating they can't cause any problems. 2015 AB 5.0 Supercharged

If you read the thread put up by Stan you will see I have the emulators. Probably the three reasons I bought emulators was they are cheaper than new EGRs, reduce soot combining with oil vapour and coating the intake manifold with black tar, and I new it would be closed and so no EGR bits falling into the motor like in two recent vehicles on here. ______________________________

You might have to wait for supply. I understand he's currently spending all of his spare time developing emulators for the 3.0 tdv6. ______________________________

It's especially easy for the tdv8 as the EGR plug/connector sits on top of the motor. Simply unplug the EGR so it no longer functions and plug in the emulators. I'll take a pic tonight. I haven't really secured the emulators. But they seem to be happily sitting on the driver side shock tower. I've been on a few road trips including about100 km of corrugations. They haven't moved. ______________________________
