Rear window (vertical) rubber strips

Hi All,

My rear window strips (the vertical ones) have started to rust at the bottom. Having received some new strips from Dan, I was just wondering if they are a straight pull off and push on affair (like the rubber door seals) or are there parts I need to remove/refit..

Anyone done this already before I go and break something or spend 4 hours on a 5 minute job?

Thx Ash

Hi Comports,

I just changed my weather strips this last week because of the same issue, rust. Mine were pretty bad.
It's a pretty forward operation. I lifted them up on one side with a flat screwdriver, covered in a cloth to avoid scratching my bodywork. They come of pretty easy once you have lifted a corner. The new ones I just hammered in with my hands.

Good luck.

He is talking about these rubber strips (42430 on diagram), only fitted on 2009-on.

I took mine off as they rusted (only 2 year old!) and have been provided with 2 new ones to fit. (they just slide out on the side, no tools needed.

I am just not sure how to slide-in the stick-on bit at the bottom once you take the masking tape off Neutral l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I imagine they are here to ever so slightly reduce wind noise.

it does look better without them. Since I have them in stock I will most likely put them on and report if they do make any difference. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

HI VeryDisco,

Did you do yours in the end. I fitted mine but like you could not find a way to stick the tabs as they fit behind the glass.

As it happens LR kindly offered to fit a new upper tailgate 2 weeks after I tried mine and fitted new ones as part of the service. I think the window has to come off to locate the sticky strip correctly. Ash

Sorry for upping this, since I'm interested in the "how to":
- remove the strips (they seem tight fastened)
- put back new strips

I believe I can't do this by myself, but I also believe it's not compulsory to ask a LR dealer do it too...

Thanks for your advices

Fatzo
