Drive Train Update

After a warning light showing on the dash, it's in the dealers today who have told me it needs a power train software update. 1hour labour £100 not covered under used warranty.

WTF is a power train update? Any ideas?

Thanks Current MY2020

To be honest, I was in the middle of two meetings and a conference call when they called, so I just said 'yes whatever, crack on'. Yes I know....I should have asked, although I haven't found the dealer particularly helpful in the past. Confused Current MY2020

It was the engine light that came on in yellow, the car drove fine though and I drove it for 500miles with it on. I'll get the details from the dealer and post the reasons when I get the car back tomorrow. Maybe they will update the transmission to a new 8 speed box? Smile Current MY2020

I had an Audi 4.2V8 that had a constant EM light on.

It was a air fuel mixture.

Sometimes these lights mean nothing. 15MY SDV8 Vogue SE

Yes I did 500 miles with a yellow light on..the dealer said it's OK but if it turns red then stop! As it came on the day before the snow, I decided I was not going to miss the chance of having some fun in the White stuff Smile

Anyway, car is back now with an invoice which states "carried out software download to PCM module" apparently the software became corrupted and had to be rewritten. How could I argue? Nice to have it back now, complimentary clean and a box of Christmas sweets and an ice scraper left as a presnt from the dealer...yes, an ice scraper for the heated windscreen!! Laughing

Off to pick up a Christmas tree. Current MY2020

Not 100% convinced your dealer knows what he is talking about...

The engine warning light only has one colour - amber. The owners handbook state that the light will illuminate when the ignition is turn to position II and extinguishes once the engine is started.

It then goes on to say if the lamp illuminates or flashes whilst driving there is a fault detected and to seek qualified assistance urgently (on your previous post I would probably not include your local dealer in that category!)

Same here, when the EM light in my 4.3V8 Aston came on the dealership advised me to carry on driving. All it needed was for the engine oxygen sensor to be replaced. No dramas. Current MY2020
