Stowing the Spare - 255/55-20

A quick question, with (hopefully) an equally quick answer - does anyone know if a 255/55-20 wheel/tyre assembly fits into the spare wheel well on a L322??? Regards,
Mick

Yes it does and it is made a lot easier with the webbing strap thingy.
And there is still room to stow a few parts.

'Webbing strap thingy' ... Laughing

Not sure what that is - mine don't have one! Regards,

Think he means the gizmo on the earlier ones that would lift the spare out of the cradle for ease of access. Unlike the later ones that you get a hernia lifting out. 2009 Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze

Well I must be doing something wrong then.

My General Grabber 255/55/20 will not fit in the spare wheel well without being let down.

Do some tyres have a bigger rolling circumference then?

Paul

I have a 255/55R20 spare, fully inflated. I wouldn't try to lift it out without the lifting rig that uses the lower tailgate to do the work. Ron B. VK2OTC

My 255/55/20 Pirelli scorpion fits in inflated, the diameter should be 55% of 255mm x 2 + 20" but I think the grabber has a deeper tread so maybe the calculated diameter is based on a bald tyre?
I used the webbing strap thing to remove the spare by hand for ages until I read up on how it latches over the lower tailgate.

My oversized 20" Scorpion'd spare fits too, although is a bit tighter than when on standard tyres. 2007 Vogue TDV8 with 255/55/20's fitted

255/55-20 scorpion just fits when fully inflated but it is a bit tight. The correct size 255/50-20 fits better as it is 1" diameter smaller. 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Baltic Blue MY11
