Ok guys I need some advice
I currently drive a 2006 FF supercharged and I'm looking to change. I've also owned a Disco 3 and loved that too.

I'm looking to buy either a 2012 5.0 litrstar FF supercharged or a 2012 Disco 4. The question is. Which one is best?

Like most others. Most of my driving is on th roads with some off reading at weekends. Plus I experience bad winters as I live in Russia.

Both models cost th same here and fuel is cheap so mpg's aren't an issue.

My concern is I'm spending more money on the FF that on the outside seems pretty much the same from my 2006 bar some cosmetic Changes

Also technically what are the main differences between my 2006 SC and a 2012 SC. I understand I'll get TR and the engine is bigger. But what else?

You'll get:

- 5.0l engine (375kW vs 291kW and 625Nm vs 560Nm). the 5.0's lower to midrange is much better than that of the 4.2SC
- improved suspension
- different (improved) interior. in the examples I sat in, the seats felt better (comfier) than those in my 2007
- improved gearbox (6HP28 vs 6HP26)

Full fat of course!

Now onto more pressing matters; I often watch the bad Russian driving on YouTube , is it really as bad as that? Do they have driving test? Are most of them drunk? It seems as if zero fooks are given by most folk!

Hi Mike, I had a 2006 4.2 S/C and now have a 5.0 2010 S/C and would recommend you go with the 2012 S/C you mentioned. there is a noticeable difference in power and dare I say it the later models are more reliable (kiss of death statement!) That said I do like Disco's as well, but once you have driven the 5.0 S/C I think your mind will be made up

You need something with presence when driving down the mad Tverskaya in the snow!

Stan. As it happens after driving for more than 20 years I need the U.K. Accident free last month I had a taxi come up my rear (so to speak)

Me Tee. Yes the driving is as bad as you think. And worse. The actual driving test is a joke. But many don't even bother with that as it's so easy to simply buy a Russian driving license

To the others thanks for the info. The general consensus seems to be to go for the FFSC Is the extra power from my 4.2 to the 5.0 very noticeable in the real word?

And yeah the Russian winter roads can make things quite interesting. But absolutely loving my new winter tyres. It's my 2nd year on Nokia Hakipalita 8 and I would recommend them to anybody. Just awsome performance

Unfortunately not. An optional extra.

I like the D4. Nice vehicle. But, FOR THE SAME PRICE, I'd go with the FFRR unless you have to have 7 seats.

I know I'm gonna sound stupid here but I presume the fbh is like the webasto pre-heater? But what's the park heater?

I think only the rear diff has a locking option and was optional

Dualview was optional as well I believe in the UK at least unless autobiography had it as standard.

Park heating and pre heating are slightly different.

All diesels have an fbh and pre heat as standard. His is because the Diesel takes a long time to warm up so needs help.

Park heat is an optional extra and system config change that allows you to remotely turn on the fbh to pre warm the cabin before you get in the vehicle. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
