France 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Ipanema Sand

As a frenchman I would say all the french riviera is overrated: crowded, overpriced, sometimes dirty

Try Corsica instead, or perhaps go a bit inland from sea

Last year we did Clermont Ferrand on way back from Italy. Lots use it for S of France or Spain as a waypoint. We stayed at a Novotel just outside of town - was nice but too busy. Would go more town centre next time. Did the Volcano trip which was lovely as weather most agreeable.
Couple of years ago we diverted to Annecy. A lovely lovely place. Freshwater lake, nice town, parking a Censored like all of these places.
Where in South of France? Big place.....we liked Menton - a touch less commercial than the standard places.

Word of warning - lots of these hotels now advertise they have parking - check that it is private and on site - not roadside at the hotel (a lottery for spaces), nor an open carpark just up the road.
