Ok so it's not a major or permenant problem, but over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that on startup the belts are much noisier than they have been. It settles down after a minute or so back to nice and quiet. It's not a squeal more of a intermittent muted squeakyness which is there when I start up (only noticed it cos I had the door open the other day) its then gone within 1/2 a mile.

Was putting it down to the colder damper weather but never noticed it last winter.

Anyone got any other ideas?

Going to get the LR dealer to look at the weeping damper on the back so I might as well get them to look at this as well. I'm trying to save up a few things to get done before the warranty expires but so far it's all minor..........(reaches for the nearest wooden object) debating about the turbo drain mod too as I have had a couple of smoky episodes, but very infrequent and it could be the DPF regenerating. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

TBH Ryan, nothing much.

From memory

New upper tailgate
New front strut as airbag sprang a leak
One of the idler pulleys was worn when I got it which they replaced along with a new belt
Brake hose recall
PCM software update (paid)

Apart from that nothing apart from servicing tyres and brakes. Which is a lot better than the last one.

Stuff I'm going to try and get sorted:
Very occasional white smoke
Squeaky belts
Funny brake squeal but only when on full lock in a car park
Leaking shock There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

After replacing the radiator hose (i think that is the pipe) I too had a squeaking belt for about 7 days then the noice just stopped 2 days ago??

The noise however returned.

I put some graphite powder on the belt but still have noise...

Although not a Tdv8, i replaced the belts on my SC a couple of weeks ago to great benefit. I was noticing a ticking sound coming and going at idle, which to me sounded like it was coming from the heads - but the belt change was done as a *might as well do when i have the access* as I had the radiator out for replacement.

Changing the belts has completely transformed the overall sound of the engine. It is much quieter all round, and the ticking has completely gone. V8 or else ...
