hi folks just replaced top rad hase after it destroyed itself on taking bottom fitment off i removed the inner clip by mistake and out popped a little spring valve i was working under car and was in a hurry to get out of car park and could not for the life of me get valve back in so i put it back together without valve filled her with water and she seems fine am should this valve be replaced or will she run ok without i have also fitted 80c thermostat i take spring valve is there for some pupouse any input would be welcome

I think you are talking about the gearbox oil cooler thermostat which lives in the fitting that the thin hose from the top hose goes to... It won't do any damage short term but best to replace it when you can, otherwise you may overcool the gearbox oil (doubt it though...!!)  Pete

yes that's what i thought i doubt if you can over cool the gearbox. i think i will leave it out car is running great thanks for the info much appreciated its hard to fathom why these hoses are made of plastic when the engine runs so hot a real design fault i am glad i was near home when it happened and not somewhere remote thanks again
