For those who got a 2 year warranty, are you renewing it, if not... Why?

Thumbs Up

Never used it in 20 months... Don't think I'd want to risk not having it though...

Just had my renewal through but I'm a bit confused as my car is currently on 96k and it says it's only for cars up to 100k miles. It's not due until April though when I will be way over 100k.

Coming to the conclusion of adding another £150 per month to my ISA for when the old girl needs it. I know they are expensive to repair but it is very reliable and I have a full LRSH and have everything fixed when it's needed. Thinking about going it soon this time. 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

Our Approved Used warranty expires in December and we are torn between buying an extended warranty for peace of mind or putting money aside.

Both have arguments for and against......I will examine closely what is and is not covered before making the decision but I read on another post the cost has gone up to circa £1500 per annum.

It's that age old dilemma; relatively new car, reliable, fully serviced and well maintained so shouldn't cost anything other than service items OR the fear of horrendous bills if something major goes wrong.

If the plan was a thousand, I'd probably just buy it but that extra five hundred every year makes me wonder if it is value for money.........I mean, ours has only done 42k miles so what could possibly go wrong with it? Rolling with laughter

What are you going to do, pld118?

We always have an approved warranty landyman.

Royston... Our SC was a disaster and never out of the main dealer. In complete contrast, this one has never been near it!

It is due in July... Not sure... Another £1500 would go a long way to an L405 Laughing

Given the issues I've had with the L405 I wouldn't be without a warranty on such a complex car. £11k of warranty work in 5 months.
Depends if you like being able to sleep at night I suppose.

Mine is not due for another 18 months or so but I will definitely extend . For me the peace of mind is definaelty worth it even if I don't have to claim.

I was so scunnered with LR's attitude to the paintwork warranty when my rear wheel arches got rusty (2 1/2 yo car) that I decided I would not pay the £1200 I was quoted to extend the warranty. The year passed without anything that would have been a warranty claim. i continue without. I have minor oil leaks on both rear shocks and one turbo, but when these were checked last week they had not got worse since Sept. So far so good, but there remains the fear of a catastrophic failure. Only Range Rovers since 1988

mzplcg... Our SC experience was a 'not without a warranty' trip...

The warranty price is steep and it is a gamble... But a couple of repairs can comfortably eclipse the warranty outlay.

Mine runs out in June , but as yet I have not received anything about extending.
My thoughts at the moment are tending towards banking the money and trusting a local independent to look after it.
Other than the turbo drain mod which LR funded and a failed change over valve (within 2 months of purchase ) it has been trouble free.
I suspect that brake discs and pads will be due soon, but they would not be covered under the warranty anyway.

I got 2years servicing and MOT's as part of the deal, so I will get a full service done early June before it expires and see if anything shows up on the MOT. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

I've extended 3 times and not regretted it. Something goes wrong every year; fuel tank sender, egr valve, and most recently low pressure fuel pump. To pay for each would have been thick end of a grand. Plus you get LR Assist. Its a no brainer for me. That saud, my car is now 7 years old and I might well chop it in this year for something a bit newer with a 5.0 s/c engine....
