What I don't understand is how they are proposing to con you? Bank transfer and do a runner with car and dosh? £30,000 outstanding hp? ringer? extra spare keys and nick it back? Surely no one would fall for that, and at the money they are asking, a cash payment isn't out of the question. So assuming that it HPI checks ok, and cash on collection who's the looser?

Plus at those prices, I'd have thought that they'd run a risk of attracting up and coming gangsters / drug dealers, not the best people to cross Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Usually miggit it is as simple as this...

I'm working away as a dr in a war torn country! I should have been home this week but I'm stuck helping orphans! There are lots of interested parties in the sale! "And I think I may have listed the car too cheap"!!! "BUT, I'm a man of my word so!!!" " leave me a 50% deposit in this PayPal account" which to the untrained eye, looks leggit! And it works this way! PayPal look after the deposit, the seller cannot get the monies from PayPal until you have viewed the car and agreed the purchase! At that point you pay the second half and give PayPal a unique code which releases the first half deposit to the seller.

That is the basic scam miggit! It works on your greed! And pulls at your heart strings! The seller being a person doing this heart felt job "n" all!

Reading the terms & conditions from this fictitious PayPal account, you as a potential buyer are fully covered against fraud! By PayPal themselves!

It's as easy as that!!! Each ad probably/hopefully (for the crook) hooks 6 or more buyers! All leave a 50% deposit! & voila!!! £10-£15k scam!

there's an even more sophisticated scam where you click on the so called 'bargain' page and within a sec it links to another 'ebay' looking page with different contact details on it, so theres no way you have the time to click to report it ... ... - .- -.

Just got this reply after asking for more detail........

Hi there,

First of all I want to thank you for your interest in my vehicle: 2007 Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2.7 TD V6 S 5dr
There are no issues with this vehicle, she has been diligently maintained by a careful dealer and has been regularly serviced, it has full service history (87,000 miles) and HPI clear. The vehicle is being stored in Plymouth, Devon. The final price that I want for this vehicle is £5,590 (including shipping and handling). I'm selling it because I've just moved abroad. Unfortunately I can't conclude this transaction personally because my work involves a lot of traveling but I left everything prepared for the sale.

Thank you!

Looks like it's developing into the usual pay into a secure account until you get the vehicle scam. I shall delve further. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20

I've just sent him this to try and keep him interested....

Hi Ian, thanks for your prompt reply. I have wanted a Range Rover like this one for ages and this one is in my price range. If you want to do a deal at the price of £5590 then I have the cash ready and waiting so I look forward to hearing how you would like to proceed

Regards, Paul.f

Anyone got suggestions as to how I should keep him going? Agueroooooooooo. 93-20
