in my day, we used to make our own fun. patiently waiting till your birthday...glueing the things together, painting them, putting on the transfers.
Only then, you could hold it, and walk around your bedroom, doing the 'sound effects!!'

then hanging it on some fishing line, and look up at it, from your bed, as you had some 'squadron dreams'.

Then banging your head in the middle of the night when you jumped down from your bunk bed and went for a pee knocking off the landing gear, which you stood on when you arrived back into your bedroom and get chastised for the mess in the morning
