Australia 2003 Range Rover HSE Td6 Epsom Green
reversing camera fit

Hi all,
I've got the old mid radio which I'm replacing with an erison unit shortly.
I've also bought a reversing camera to put in but am wondering as to where would be the best place to put said reversing camera without pulling the tailgate(s) to pieces trying to fit it.

Cant put pic in, keeps coming up with error. Evil or Very Mad

Its like this one..

www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-Rear-View-Back-Rev...2180823226

Any helpful hints greatly appreciated.

cheers

The easiest is probably under the rear bumper, as long as you can get the 'angle of dangle' right. That’s where I put mine (not the same camera), and it works a treat. See my install post: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic34829.html (& in the Wiki).
As an aside, since then, and inspired by Miggit’s installation (http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic37019.html), I have bought a BMW rear number plate camera which I have already fitted into a used (off the Bay of Fleas) number plate light / tailgate button assembly:

I am preparing to install this – to make the fitting look more ‘professional’ – but it will require pulling the upper tailgate to bits to pass the cables which will require an appropriate moment … or ten. It's "bĂ©bĂ©choon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.

A handy tip.... if you get a BMW X5 camera... make sure it's an NTSC, there are a lot of PAL ones on the market now, and cut the plugs off the lead to thread it through the rubber tube in the tailgate.... this will save you no end of bother and when you come to wire them into the TV module you'll find that the plugs are not needed at all Shocked

Also if you can get a camera with the extra power feed in the lead it will save you from running extra cables.... I earthed the camera to one of the earths for the aerial amps in the upper tailgate, connected the red to the red from the camera / 6 meter lead ..... from this point on the plugs are not needed so when I did an install for a pal I just cut the plug off the other end and found it really easy to feed it in to the car through the rubber tube at the top of the tailgate Thumbs Up

Oh and there is some cutting required on the numberplate lamp holder to get the camera to fit... a Dremel is handy for this. Other than that the only other thing is to turn off the number plate lamps in the LCM, otherwise the screen of doom and the bong of death will drive you nuts Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer...
