United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
1 year on.

I've had the beast just over a year.

It came with various problems that got fixed under the sale - no dash indication of indicators/fog light front and back/gear selection, no infotainment screen, no reverse lights, no hooter - how did it get that brand new MoT?
Also pixels were covered, as was the alternator that died just before Xmas, still using the battery that appears fine.

Nothing else needed other than for peace of mind oil changes oh and gearbox filter. Ops for got exhaust weld on the cat but my son did that so no cost.

So as a birthday present I got the wheels powder coated and new tyres, booked it in for 4 wheel alignment and they have found worn bushing that they say will need to be fixed prior to doing the alignment, ok I say and today they had it in.
Just had a call to say the hand brake shoes lining has become unbonded, and the rear pads need replacing oh and the disc is beyond safe limit,. no extra labour sir as it had to come off anyway.

Digital TV and reversing camera put back in abeyance!

Old English, none off this American horn business please.

Sadly they were doing the alignment and sheared off a bolt, replacement arrived but too late to do the alignment pick it up tomorrow. Must be worth a toot on the hooter!

Got it back and well I don't think I have notice such a change in any other vehicle that I've had alignment adjusted.

Smile restored, bank balance a little less happy!

It does make such a difference to how they drive though. So many people don't realise because they drive nicely anyway, but they really are so much better when all the geometry is spot on.

Hi Clivefog

All the issues you reported in your first post when you bought the car are very similar to the issues I have been having when it rains:

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic37575.html

Did your seller report on what they needed to do to fix it? Might give me some clues...

Thanks .

Hello Clivefrog, where did you go for the 4 wheel alignment - was it an LR independent ? I wondered if they need to plug in and read the steering position and get it at zero before they set the geometry up. I need to sort mine out !

There are quite a few garages which have the 4 wheel alignment systems nowadays. Even my local quick fit has one!!

The system you are looking for is a Hunter Hawkeye. They don't need to plug it in, the machine detects the centre.

Ideally you should have the car in tight tolerance mode on the suspension when doing it, but I have never had a problem just settling the suspension on a level car park first by raising it and putting it back into normal before it goes on the ramp. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yes they did give me a list of bits changed and put it with the cars history, which was then "lost", I gave up asking if it was found. I do remember main light unit, in car screen and a wiper relay, although both front and rear worked fine. There was a load more sorry not to be of more help.

Hunters machine at Westerleigh Car Centre Downend Bristol. Happy with the work which they would not do without replacing a bush or two first, so I had a lot done.
