I'm sure some folks who actually know what they're talking about will be along soon but in the meantime you could try using one of those CD/DVD cleaning discs in case your DVD's laser has got mucky. 2006MY 4.2 SC

if this happens with an OE disc then the unit is knackered and needs replacing.... ... - .- -.

Any chance it does not like the disc? Read somewhere something about the quality of the dics? Or is that rubbish?
