Air suspension woes

Please someone help me understand my issue and also break the bank Sad

Basically, the front air suspension keeps going down, and when it pumps up to normal ride height, I get a whoosh of air come down between the front right airbag, as in where the top overlays the bottom.

If I leave it running and read the values, the height constantly changes... but the reservoir pressure stays the same so am I right in thinking it's getting to a level and not leaking anymore?

I take it I need a new front right air bag Sad

Also, why is the ride height sometimes - and other times not at the same level?

Those ride height figures are just a datum point for the EAS to know where each wheel is, they don't mean anything on their own.... Pete

That clears that up!

Won't raise to off-road mode though, is it still ok to drive?

It only drops majorly over time, I expect at normal height it should be ok until I can replace it?!

Puts a lot of strain on the compressor, but it'll be OK for a short while.... Thumbs Up Pete

You can drive it but if it is going down you are overworking the compressor which will eventually give up. Then you have aditional cost replacing it.

Sooner you change the strut the better. Also advised to do both as the other one may not be far behind. John

I will hopefully be able to replace next week.

Got to drive to Birmingham on Monday and back, other than that I don't really use the car that often.

Just literally can't afford it right now, everything is going wrong with this car. More depressing thing is I have a 4.6 p38 sat at my grand parents which is mint!!

Make sure you take your diagnostics with you so when your compressor overheats and cuts out you can reset it and do a proper job of ruining it...
I wouldn't be driving more than a few miles like that and if it is the front struts then Delphi from island 4x4 were always good and the Dunlop I put on mine weren't much cheaper and they knock for some reason.

My N/S Front went a few months back and chaged it. £264 from Paddock for Delphi. £15 more than Island but happy to paymore for a more responsive supplier.

Last week my O/S front went. It would leak at standard hieght, right where the bag had perished on the bend, so I used my IID to raise it 20mm until I could get the new one and replace it. Both strutts were factory original.

Just hoping the rears dont go anytime soon.

For the cost difference, personally, I don't think it is worth just changing the bags. The struts are the same age and probably will be worn as well. Also you still have to strip the units out to make the repair. John

I agree, I was just a bit surprised to see them there, i know there was a company offering their own brand ones but these appear to be landrover part numbers by Delphi.
