I have just had an email in from one of my Euro hauliers;

Following an Interview conducted by the Nord Littoral newspaper with the FNTR’s general secretary for the Nord Pas de Calais region, Sébastien Rivera, we would like to inform you that the French haulage firms affiliated to the country’s leading trade federation, FNTR, are planning to block traffic around Calais on the 5th September 2016.

According to Sébastien Rivera this is in protest against what is claimed to be an upsurge in attacks on truck drivers and their vehicles over the past few weeks.

Just a heads up to anyone heading out there.

I think it's awful what professional drivers are facing in the route of their business. As a holiday traveller I took some comfort in the level of security at calais and beyond. Army and armed police were all over the port and on the approach. Our caravan was searched thoroughly and I welcome it.

I didn't see a single ounce of trouble this year but have spoken to one or two people who have seen people trying to access the rear of lorries.

Not sure what impact a road blockade will have, apart from giving the immigrants more choice of lorry to travel in  Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Good call on this one - just watching it on the news - glad I came back yesterday, the roads were clear the whole way for me, one of my best runs ever - apart from the 90 Euro speeding fine

I think the best thing to do would be to have near empty lorries that go slow or stop often near the port.
Then they get locked and drive a few hours away, leave the trailer and unlock it and come back for it the next day once they have all off... the camp would then be spread around the country....

I'm due back through Calais tomorrow (6th). With luck it will only be a single day blockade. But if the weather is nice I expect the Fr Each to extend!

According to Sky News, the protesters are there for the long haul (not sure if a pun is intended) - until 'the jungle' is disbanded.

I have to admit, I didn't realise there were 10k migrants there
