Cheaper diadem bulbs?

Went to replace a rear bulb (XZQ500100) on my 2008-SC and when I saw the price my eyes popped out so far I could have used one of them instead! Shocked

$60/ea seems a bit steep and I'd rather keep my binocular vision. Tried looking for an LED version but didn't find any with the BAW15D base. (Could break the old bulb and resolder an LED with different base I suppose. Laughing )

Is there a better source than the stealer for us folks here in America? Crying or Very sad

I just Googled the base and one of the first links was Don's bulbs in the USA. LEDs are available off eBay. Also from AliExpress for US$2.70 Ron B. VK2OTC

Yeah, I can search Google/eBay as well - the base isn't hard to find, it's that base *with* the cool chrome/mirror finish, (or CANBUS-compatible LED with that base).

The "diadem" (mirror/chrome/shiny) finish is apparently limited to Osram, though I've gotten hints that Hella may have their own version, and there do appear to be Chinese knock-offs, (though only amber on FleaBay at the moment and this one should be red when powered).

I have an IM in to one of the Chinese sellers though to see if they have a red equivalent, and AliExpress may be an option, though they won't ship to my state due to a tif with the local govt over how escrow services are handled, (though there are workarounds for that problem).

If I go AE though there's a good chance I'll have to buy 100x or something, so if anybody is interested in these bulbs at a decent price PM me and I'll keep you posted if nobody replies here with a better option sooner. 2008 SC L322

myself and a fellow member [pld118] replaced our SC rears with leds ..the pins were wrong but we filed down the relevant pin slightly and it fitted with a 'friction' fit....

Summary

@nicedayforit - saw that one but with s/h still $45 or so. Neutral

@johnboyairey - great price but wrong bulb. Wink

@stan - zomg genius! Never thought of that, much easier than resoldering a base, I think this is probably the best/easiest option all around! Very Happy Thumbs Up Bow down 2008 SC L322
