Just replaced mine with one of these. Bought on ebay £88.45, delivered next day. Excellent service.

+1 for Varta. The Varta AGM unit lasted me ages and was still good when I sold the car. AGM are better at coping with deeper discharge (think FBH) but still have the CCA for a cold start.

Both NDFI & Joe90 have TD6’s NOT TDV8’s

I was quoting our findings with like for like for Nick’s TDV8 Thumbs Up

Most TDV8 owners who switched to the Bosch have had a long term poor experience.

A bunch of us moved over as early reports were good and it was the 'biggest' battery that would fit - but almost everyone seems to have suffered some sort of failure within the 5 years.

Clearly Craig has the experience and doesn't want customers complaining - the JLR battery, whatever that is, seems to be a better buy for longer term reliability.

So I guess it's a personal decision - buy the Bosch, keep the receipt and have a decent booster pack - and you're broadly OK for 5 years - or pay the extra for the JLR battery & piece of mind

The JLR battery is 90AMP with 950 cold crank. On paper the Bosch 'should' out perform it. It clearly doesn't so I think I'll bite the bullet if this latest S5 bails out on me.

On the seat trim I've had the car into a trimmer locally today and he's said it's not big enough a job for him which is fair enough tbh. So, I will keep searching. He did give me a piece of heavy vinyl like used on the original trim and said use this for matching it up. I've got a number for a chap pretty local who does repair work for JLR dealers in Cheshire so that's a good start. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

After a poor experience of the Bosch S5, I bought a JLR battery for our tdv8. That was back in January. Used the FBH and has never missed a beat. I will have to look at the cca and capacity, but I know it is no where near the capacity of the S5.
Price from JLR is around £330, got it off a Landrover dealer via eBay for £90 with a 2 year national warranty.
I know Landrover don't make batteries (this is an Exide). Will get the details tomorrow.

In my jaguar ownership days, I used a company called Aldridge trimming, I sent the whole seat base off, and they replaced the leather seat pices, and very reasonable, I don't know if they can help you, but are a dedicated trimming company.
I'm sure they can do running repairs, if you are near.

Bit late in looking (a week).
Battery spec is as follows:
12volt, 90ah, 850a (EN) cca, AGM/VRLA/MF
Part number: BH42-10655-BA
Exide Made in USA
Jaguar Land Rover.
2 year national warranty

Amp hour and cold cranking amps are well down on the Bosch/Varta S5 @ 110a and 920cca.

It doesn't need shoehorning into the battery compartment either as the length is 353mm rather than the 393mm length of the S5.

Steve,
Thanks for the spec, any chance you could inbox me the fleabay link so I can take a look. Also, and most importantly - how are you finding it ?

My Bosch S5 is going back tomorrow after another fail at the weekend.

I have an Exide battery in mine, 12 months now in the tropics and going strong.

Had a few issues in its first month but once settled down fine. Hold charge at about 12.8 , according to the multi meter.

Of course this will = the kiss of death for it!!

Ok, so just off a call from ECP and they are happy for me to swap for "whatever will work"...they also acknowledged that they have had a few S5's back when used in larger engines.

They've asked me to go in and choose an alternative. I'm going to give them the spec above from Steve, the JLR-Exide. This is pretty much last chance saloon with ECP. If this don't work it's bite the bullet time with a dealer issued JLR battery.

Any comments fellla's?

Thumbs Up Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

the other option instead of a secondary battery is to fit some supercapacitors instead of a second battery Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

it's the latest edition but if you are expecting roads to appear you may be suprised, it's got very few of the new roads around me on it, it still seams to be 3 years out of date. Current

Back from ECP with the Exide (JLR badged) AGM battery. £170.00 inc VAT. £50 more than the S5.

Let's see how this fairs. I shall report back when fitted and tested. They did say AGM are better at coping with technology such as stop/start and modern gadgets....perfect, nothing like my FF then. In fairness they did say the battery will be better with the amount of elec things going on in a Range Rover...lets hope se Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........
