On this topic, take a look at a couple of Mythbusters episodes that dealt with the question of how to best get out of a sinking car.
The first episode they were doing the experiments in a swimming pool with the car upright, but the second episode they had a car go into a lake, upside down.
As they said at the start of the shows...
DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!

And they're 'professionals' doing controlled experiments. Makes for interesting, educating and scary viewing.

Surely there's a button on the electric seats that fires the headrest out sideways breaking the glass for you isn't there?

If I'd known there wasn't when I bought it I would have walked away! Rolling with laughter Dan

Best thing about the video is that after she tries and eventually succeeds to break the glass, she calmly opens the door!
