I have searched the forum looking for help on this ...

My boy broke the inside passenger front door handle. Door was opening OK from outside. Took my mighty RR to a 'specialist' yesterday to get door fixed and... they took out the broken piece from the inside which was holding the cable. In locking the door it's now super locked. Can't get into it, can't unlock it.

Ive seen stuff on the inter web about breaking the cover of the lock with a screw driver but ... is this the only fix? If it is, how the heck do you do it?

I've finally done it ,, the way you described only opens the door if the outside handle cable is broke , the way to open the lock when it's locked is to go in from the top , pull the door card away at the top far as you can , window up or down makes no difference , remove air bag , pull away inner foam protection stuff , get a screw driver and hammer , knock through the plastic on the top of the lock , it exposes the lever which you need to push down to unlock the car , you then can only open the door from inside"

Is this the one? My 'specialist' thinks he can do it with diagnostics but having spent most of last night searching the information super motorway I'm not convinced. Mind you, I ain't convinced by anything with him at the moment ...

Is he a specialist in incompetence...??

Rule number one when doing any work on a door lock is to lock the door with it open, i.e. use a screwdriver to push the latch shut and check it several times BEFORE closing the door properly....

It's his fault, just get him to fix it and pay for the damage...

There is no way to repair or open a double locked door with diagnostics, if there was it wouldn't be much point would it..??
