TD6 Injector Removal - Help !

As per my previous post , Injector No5 confirmed faulty. So purchased a new one and stripped inlet manifold etc off to gain access and remove it. However it is stuck fast and despite purchasing the BMW M57 Injector removal kit (which doesnt go over the solenoid cap Crying or Very sad )proceeded to attempt removal. Now at the stage where the injector is still stuck fast but without the top part (coil body) Shocked . Can you strip the head down to gain access to remove the fuel inlet part of the injector ? As I can see it it maght need an 8mm threaded bar welding on to the injector and an slide hammer on the job. Just in case I have purchased a slide hammer Wink Any advice appreciated !

Time to admit defeat and call in a mobile specialist. Such things either come out fairly easily if you follow the book or they are so stuck that you need someone with the experience and extra equipment to pull them out without damaging things. If you do bust something the cost and effort of rectification is vastly more than shelling out for pro.

Google turns up quite a few outfits. Sure to be one not too far away. Hopefully someone on here can point you to reliable firm. There are some right cowboys around.

This might provide a few options - some a bit scarier than others:

So easy with the right gear :- . Probably wouldn't even bother to buy tools and try extracting myself. Just strip the injectors down to the inner threads ready and get the pros in.

mercs600 the AP Autodianogstics folk in that video appear to be from up your way.

Currently soaking in PlusGas . The injector (whats left of it) was moving side to side slightly and also managed to twist it a bit , so , purchased a slide hammer from Amazon , but also purchased the correct removal tool for the injectors of Ebay !The M57 I got from Ebay two weeks ago at a fair cost is useless for our injectors ! It has a top coil pack removal socket which is 27mm - ours are 28 or 29mm ! All tools will arrive this week so in the mean time , Mr Muscle to clean the inlet manifold and a new set of gaskets If I can find some at a decent price/quality. Fortunately the cars not my everyday driver Smile

Forgot to mention regarding suggestion of stripping down to the bottom part of the injector - I can't get access to the part on top of the lower part due to where it is located in the head (the fuel inlet connector part). If I could get that part off I could get the lower part out with the correct puller ! I buy all my own tools and have done for 40+ years as I am an Engineer so they always come in again for something else Smile

I've heard coka cola does a good job on an overnight soak, never done it myself, so don't know.

Also heard this re coke , currently sat soaking with PlusGas as mentioned and by the time I get the pullers (Wed-Thurs) I'm hoping it will be a quick job. Seen the videos on Youtube re removing these injectors and some are really Shocked

Try a 50/50 mix of acetone (nail polish remover) and transmission fluid, works better than any off the shelf penetrating oil that I've used over the years including Plusgas and has been proven in tests.
Mix together in an oil squirt can. Shake it well before applying. Avoid prolonged exposure on plastics as Acetone melts ABS.

Update :-
I did try the compression method with no luck Sad Anyway ... 5 days with PlusGas and the arrival of the dedicated Sealey injector removal kit for Bosch and Delphi injectors did the job in less than 5 minutes ! Longest part was vacuuming the carbon out of the injector bore , fitting the injector was a 5 minute job and then all covers manifold etc.
Started up and took for a road test - firing back on all 6 cylinders - Happy days Thumbs Up
Cannot recommend the Sealey kit enough ! I am sure it will come in again as that is now 2 out of the 6 injectors I have replaced in 5 years - cost £70 but money well spent Smile
