Got a Range Rover

Due to a growing family and needing something that will fit 3 kid seats in the back and have a boot big enough for all their stuf we have decided to buy a Range Rover! We have always had mercs and have been using a long wheel base s class but fancied a change, here is what we got:

It's a bit of a "doer upper", we picked it up a couple of days ago and this is what it needs:

Full detail (swirl marks all over it) - done
Jammed cd changer - fixed it with a gentle nudge
The brake disks are warped so I've ordered front and rear discs and pads
Air con is leaking from the condensor so ordered a new one
It has no spare tyre so I ordered one
It needs an oil and filter change - all bits ordered!
The key fob is falling apart so ordered a new one, it also only has 1 key so I've gotten in touch with a local auto lock smith to get another key made up.
It doesn't seem to be getting up to temp, it never gets as high as 12 and sits from 10-11 o'clock on the display, I suspect the EGR thermostat as it did have a code come up for the egr valve sticking or something when I scanned it.

I also had it remapped already, the difference is unbelievable!

Here is my other toy:

It's good to be on board!

Welcome!

One thing you might want to get checked, sometimes people think the discs are warped, and change them. If you see no difference the hubs will be slightly out. You can replace the hubs for not much money or, have your new discs skimmed to match up and be true with the hubs.

I have had this before after lots of head scratching. A good local LR specialist is whats needed.

Good luck. Discovery 4 HSE

Thanks for the advice, it needs new discs anyway, the ones on there have a massive lip on them, hopefully I don't have to replace the hubs too but if I do then I do!

Welcome to the site and the joy of FFRR ownership. Big fan of Mercedes myself and have had this one for a number of years and have already warned the kids its going in my will so whoever's nicest to me gets it when I'm gone.

This site is amazing for finding out answers to problems. Also with the sticky DVD, if it gets worse or you get mecha error, it can be fixed very cheaply. Mine went last month and a local firm, who know Alpine very well charged me just £180, so no £1,000 form ebay or a cheaper replacement which won't work with your system.

Anyway, here are my babies. Big Blue being taken for a £2,500 mile road-trip at end August to Italy using the Italian Job route.

same here, bought a do-er upper Rangie, and have a Merc for the missus, an early CLK soft top, in matching silver.
apart from a crank pulley, the Merc has needed for nothing, but tyres! the Do-err upper, remains to be .... a do-err-upper. -like the Fourth bridge!

How are you getting on with the three kids seats ? I tried loads of combinations of seats and never found one that worked , there was/is a very expensive custom made three seat but I didn't actually need it apart from the odd time as I only have two little ones .

Quick search , found it .
This is how you get three seats in

Not had a problem with the 3 seats, the middle one is slightly squashed but she will be in just a booster in the near future so that will be fine!

Changed the air filter over, the old one was well used! Also swapped the key internals to a new fob.

Got another question, I had this error message come up in the display but I can't read it due to the dead pixels (another thing I need to fix!) anyone got any idea what it's trying to tell me? I read it with my cheap code reader but no faults are stored on the ECU... The picture has gone to my gallery!
