Yesterday and today I've noticed when pulling up at work that the cooling fans are running what sounds like full speed and continue after I've locked up for a short while. Is there a reason for them being on apart from the obvious?
Coolant is spot on, checked this morning cold. No fault codes and the needle sits where it always has.
I thought it might be just the higher ambient temps we've had but I'm currently on nights and it wasn't particularly hot this morning when I drove home but the fans were on when I parked. I've only got a 6 mile commute sat at 40 - 60moh 95% of the journey so the engine isn't exactly being exerted.
Is it anything to worry about?
UPDATE
Engine Management Light came on this morning on my way home. P0116-17 ECT sensor.
Also noticed the temp gauge dropping back down to 0 when coasting downhill.
Plugged the IIDtool and today and monitored it a few times and the sensor appears to fault above 50 degrees. The fans are on before the cars even upto running temp. Current
