Alarm

Guys and Gals.

The Wife just called and said the alarm on the full fat keeps going off when parked on the drive.

I'm currently at work so cant do anything other than do a search and read up.

One think that hasn't been mentioned when reading is pulling the fuse out??? Can i do this?

I cant have the alarm going off all night and its already 5:10pm so no one is going to come and help at this time of day.

thanks in advance Bow down

If it's going off for a reason, but you don't know why, can you stop it with the fob and then lock the car using key? Is the car locked then without the alarm on? Could be wrong.

If it's faulty and going off, not sure.... Battery backup and all that.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

From what the Wife said on the phone, she got home locked up as normal then the alarm went off and has done another 4 or 5 times.
She's pressing unlock then lock again and it stops but starts again when it wants.

Trying to get home asap to deal with it myself but traffic is my current battle

Do try the bonnet switch disconnect first when you get home. .

So it could be working correctly then? Ie something legit is setting it off. You can't do anything till you get home really.

If the fob had a battery issue, it wouldn't unlock would it?

Worst case scenario tonight, as I assume it's drivable is to block it in and leave it unlocked....for a silent night and diagnose in non sleep hours? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

How do I disconnect the switch? I've read people saying it but not seen how?

Was planning the block if all else fails.

10 miles from home now

It's a Range Rover!!
Ours at the moment is refusing to lock or unlock with either the remote OR the key! New key on its way though.
Since the key fob has been playing up it has had a tendency to sit on the drive and start flashing the hazard lights for no reason whatsoever, and occasionally setting off the car alarm!

Hoping the replacement keys and subsequent recoding will sort it out though.

It did still lock and unlock though even when the key fob battery was failing, then again when a new battery was fitted it kept giving a Key Battery low warning bong!

Still havent found how to disable the BAE (Bank Account Emptying!) chip though......

Rolling Eyes
Been home for roughly half hour and nothing.
The range is currently like a told off child sitting on the driveway doing/saying anything.
I don't want to start touching and unlocking just incase is some how sorted itself but so far so good...... Whistle

Had exactly the same on mine a few weeks ago. When ever I pulled up on the drive when the engine was hot or the sun shone on it, the bonnet would expand a bit and operate the alarm switch.

I disconnected it to prove it then ended up loosening the plastic fire wall it sits on and moving the whole thing forward a few mm within the slack of the bolt holes - fixed.....ideal...!

Always worth double clicking the key fob when locking to deactivate the internal sensor to prove its not something inside setting it off.

Does anyone have a picture of what I should be disconnecting?

So far so good 10:25 in the PM and nothing.

Daft question but has it been raining in your neck of the woods? can be an issue otherwise, leave it open until you can sort it, if they are going to nick it they will anyway Thumbs Up
