Scotland 2013 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Luxor

Every weekend there are car clubs doing at least part of the route.

This weekend past, we saw Mustangs and Ferrari's. Previous weekend was Aston Martin and Italian supercars. I even saw an Aerial Atom on Saturday, parked next to his'n'hers Ferrari and Bentley convertibles.

Be careful though, there are a lot of foreign drivers with camper vans who forget which side of the road they belong on and every year there are a number of two-wheeled fatalities.

Cool, I'll keep you all posted. I'm doing it during the week so not at weekend but I'll keep an eye out for forgetful continentals (I've done it myself in France). Stans point about Loch Ness is a good one, that's probably why those people who go up there looking for him year after year are disapointed Rolling with laughter Geoff

Well I completed the trip and added a few detours of my own. The weather was poor (driving rain and howling wind) but the route excellent and suitable for any well maintained car (not caravans or HGVs). I did it in three days and although not rushed from a driving point of view (lots of passing places on single track roads)there wasn't really enough time to walk to sites of interest (SWMBO isn't up to this anyway so it was never planned). I got off to a bad start with a steel rod being thrown up on the motorway which pierced the front bumper like a javelin, I had to pull it out leaving what is best described as a bullet hole. No problem with fuel, filled up at Inverness, Ullapool, Thurso and Glasgow and I had no problems with continentals being on "my side" of the road - lots of warning signs.
All in all a great few days driving, paddle shift got lots of use but still well over 20 mpg - result!

Those ropes were not for show!!

Looks fantastic!

I'd love to do it in my Mustang, but 9mpg and a relatively small fuel tank conspire to limit that somewhat.

Definitely one to consider for the future, though.

Stan, Loch Ness is well-worth the drive. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

A man ain't truly been insulted until he stands buck naked in front of a woman and she didn't even notice. Or care.

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black

For you Stan there's plenty of monsters at least that's what the southerners tend to call them. I prefer to call them locals.

If you haven't been to the Highlands before then you need to go, I tend to come down Glen Coe on the return leg rather than the A9 which we tend to use on the way up. More scenic. Also worth a trip is the Applecross Pass, if its sunny get someone to drive so you can look at the views, you can't do both... Ed
