Ice & Door Seal Damage

Beware - its minus 4 here and due to the melted snow my cars are really iced up. I tried to open the door of the TDV8 this morning and it was frozen shut so I gave a little tug and it opened but the top door seal remained frozen to the metal of the car pulling it out of the door retaining channel!!!

I immediately left as was and went to get some warmish water and after applying the seal came free and became soft again and I was able to refit it into the door without damage.

I suggest that if the door looks really frozen then a little warm water along the top of the door would stop this potentially damaging event happening to you Thumbs Up

I use silicone to prevent seal damage when frozen, as it is recommended in the user manual

Next time you polish and wax the car pay attention to the door shuts, especially the top bit where the felt door seal sits against.

If this is well waxed then the water, frozen or otherwise cannot adhere to it.
