I've had one of those trackers for some years in this and other cars, they work well and "do what they say on the tin"....

Thanks all. Got some more quotes, all much higher than Direct Line, then finally a quote from Hastings which was only £280 with no tracker required will now cancel the Direct Line.

^+1 I'd been with Direct Line for years.........I replaced the FF a couple weeks ago and was told I needed a tracker. I suggested they would lose a customer if they insisted. They called my bluff so I moved to Admiral. Saved £120 and no need for a tracker. Looks like Direct Line rely on the laziness of existing customers to renew policies. When asking about a renewal quote, I told the salesman that I could get insurance for £105 cheaper elsewhere which they then matched. When he asked who the other insurer was, I told him it was their own website using all the same correct information. When I asked him why I wasn't offered the lower price as an existing customer.....his response?........"well we've got to get as much (money) as we can, so you can't blame us for trying". Think hard about using Direct Line. |

The range of the quotes were huge, from £280 to about £1200, all for similar levels of cover. I don't understand the car insurance industry. |
