Agree with you, but when certain people try and apply pressure to others it doesn't make the place desirable at all for others wanting to join in.

As I've said, let's all move on. Life's far too short for petty bickering.

I have always enjoyed forums which add to the enjoyment of owning the respective marque.
There are several over the years which have done this well and I still visit to keep in touch with old friends.

Given the prestige marque that is the backbone of this forum I am surprised at the content of some posters.
Dan & letsavit seem do not seem to have a mutual respect for each other and quite frankly I do find it all a bit of a complete turn off. I may be a minnow when it comes to level of posting but if I feel like throwing in the membership then others may well feel the same too and before long you could see the whole active community shrink to nothing.

It may be my take on things, but I felt the forum changed after the balljoint saga dragged on well past its sell by date and it has changed the mood of the forum. So how about a clean sweep Martin so we can have a proper amnesty and get things back to how they were? Work out the common IP address doing the postings when balljoint first appeared and give them a period to 'fess up or you will name and shame them so we can move on?
I think doing this would show that you do take the maintenance and conduct of the forum seriously, as right now you do not look as though you are making a proper effort to control things in a manner befitting the marque?

EDIT re Balljoint: I have also suggested to Martin that he should introduce a new forum rule banning the use of multiple log on identities for the one IP address/person, unless that person can show a legitimate and valid reason for the need to have this.
Whether he will or not I do not know, but ultimately if a forum membership is filled with multiple identities from the one person, it gives a distorted indication of forum activity to forum sponsors and is not a commercially aware thing to allow if you want to give forum sponsors a true picture.

Sorry, there was me trying to help a mirriad of posters, posting how to's and writing things for the wiki. Didn't realise I had to turn you on too! I'll add it to my list of things to do! I just hope you're a bottom.

Sounds like you're BallJoint to me!

I think for the most part everyone is happy with how the forum is managed, the content of the forum, and the development of the forum. Obviously I appreciate you're not happy that Martin doesnt answer your PM's, but I can quite understand why.

The day the forum becomes ONLY about making money, will be the day that I leave.

Can't work, doesn't work. Been there, done that. Any mobile broadband routes through proxies, so half the country may seem like the person! ISP's recycle ip's after a period etc etc. Too big a can of worms. Land Rover Addict

@Thrasher- spot on about mobile BB.

@Dan- your posts are one of the reasons I like this forum. I may not always totally agree with your opinion but I honestly believe you are straight, honest and above all extremely helpful.

@People who are over sensitive- I was bullied at school, private school, was just my turn. I sucked it up blah blah etc. News flash: the Internet can be mean .... Pause for effect... Grow up! Are they turning up at your house threatening you or are they saying 'mean' things??

Thin skinned politically correct people are one of modern societies biggest atrocities. Weak whiny adults Censored me off - how did you ever have enough drive to earn enough to buy a RR???

look I'm all for courtesy and class but FFS if someone posting on a forum bothers you THAT much you really need to have a look at yourself.

Just my £0.02, and not indicative of the views of anyone else etc I just don't like weak whiny people.

P.S. I am not ball Censored or whatever he was called.

Let the flaming commence...

In reply to the ongoing comments.

I'm not about to lock the whole place down on the back of one or daft moments, in my experience it only encourages people to circumvent them, and then there's a load more admin involved which will detract from the site in the long run.

As Thrasher says, banning multiple accounts based on IPs just doesn't work, AOL users are proxied so they all appear to come from the same account, and there are plenty of ways around such a restriction.

Threatening a name-and-shame over balljoint won't undo what was said, or that it dragged out longer than was humorous, but as I said elsewhere I've learned from these handful of episodes. Multiple identities are not a problem as is being made out, there are of course a small handful (none of which are now active), but not sufficient in the membership total to consider problematic.

I'm sorry that you feel I'm not making an effort to control things Shocked Obviously I can't agree with you, I have asked for a line to be drawn by everyone and to move on. However the issue keeps being dragged back to the fore. I will take on board all suggestions, but I can't implement them all, and won't be taking any knee-jerk decisions. If I didn't care about fullfatrr.com I wouldn't be here posting responses, or attempting to defuse the various arguments and calming issues down.

To address any concerns, first and foremost the site is here to be a RR community for the membership, not to monetise every last pixel of screen space.

This forum has been an absolute joy to run, requiring very little intervention at all. I very much hope that the small minority of members will put their differences behind them, move forward and remember why we're all here Smile

P.P.S: Martin for the record none of that was aimed at you and I think you do a good job- especially considering its a hobby/non profit etc!
