Am I just unlucky or is this normal?

Had the FF for 3 months and the list of niggles gets longer by the week:
Week 1 - Battery dead and wouldn't hold charge, new battery.
Week 2 - Side indicator repeater stopped working, full of water?? Replaced both sides with new ones but also had to change the connectors and part of the harness.
Week 4 - Aircon stopped blowing cold and guy at Halfraoads said the system had no pressure so must have a leak, took it to a specialist who checked for said leak and after not finding one said it just needed topping up and works perfectly (for now).
Week 6 - Offside headlight intermittently won't work, had the light checked and all connectors cleaned but still occasionally fails.
Week 7 - On holiday towing the 'van and noticed a cloud of smoke from exhaust when revving. Changed breather filter to the cyclone type as the old one was solid with gunge, no more smoke!
Also week 7 - Fuel gauge wouldn't show more than half full and gradually went down despite tank being refilled. Now will only show empty with warning light on no matter how much fuel is in the tank, but will move from rest to empty (not much movement but can be seen if you look at the gauge when turning on the ignition). Been advised to attempt a hard reset, but so far have chickened out in case something else gets damaged.
Week 10 - High level brake light acts strange then stops working - could it be faulty earth? Not had a look yet.
Week 11 - Rear wiper stopped working at 6 o'clock position and washer not working. Again something still to be looked at.

As most of these are 'known' faults, can I expect to send most of my free time searching the annuls of fullfatrr looking for (and mostly finding, thanks) information on how to deal with more new problems or will the problems gradually dry up and I can enjoy the reasons I bought the car in the first place (hint - it wasn't to spend ALL of my free time fixing it). QUID FACIUM TIBI

That's about average I'd say, as people decide to get rid of a FF the little jobs just don't get done.... I'm sure there will be more, they do it on purpose, if you have to constantly look after and care for them you will bond with them and love them for all their foibles....

I am sure I will. Little jobs dont scare me, or even big jobs -but it would be nice if they didnt all happen at once! I had a Frontera for 10 years that had its share of problems, but at least they were spread over months or years.... QUID FACIUM TIBI

First 3 months with mine had loads of niggles ending with a dead alternator.
Now 7 months all that is left to resolve is the cruise control which drops out after a minute.
Stick with it, if you decide to move it on you can sleep soundly knowing you have not moved on a lemon,

Ok - latest niggle started tonight. Steering wheel will move up and down but not in and out - fuse or new switch stalk? QUID FACIUM TIBI

i think, we all do this... -when getting a 'new car' play with all the features, and test out functionality etc. writing a mental list of annoyances, or things we dont think are right... if we were in a base model 'tin can' of a car, we wouldnt have hardly any things to test etc.
Couple it to peoples experiences at the dealers, for minor work, that comes back, with a huge bill, and you have problems, that are 'best left alone' till another day.
with you, that day has come. and your list i believe is typical. searching on here for solutions, is often peoples introduction to the forum.
we could say, if the FFRR was a reliable as we would like it to be, this forum, would be seldom visited, by many.
but going back to the billls people get for minor work, like this newspaper story,
http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/news/152965/watc...aker-cover
its no wonder, that new owners/enthusiasts, find themselves, sitting behind the wheel, playing with their knobs, Shocked

I would think that this kind of 'integral part' charge is applicable to many manufacturers nowadays, but the speaker grill does look very cheap and fragile. It also has the appearance of a separate clipped in part, would it hurt for someone to go to the parts bin and supply one in a (very) well padded envelope. QUID FACIUM TIBI

...the lady damaged her speaker grill, by having a book, thrown against it, during travelling.

sounds, like the dealer did the same...

to throw the book at someone'
Fig. to charge or convict someone with as many crimes as is possible. I made the police officer angry, so he took me to the station and threw the book at me. The judge threatened to throw the book at me if I didn't stop insulting the police officer.

i bet she gave them a 'right grilling'..

but, ..actually it was a left grill.

yes, i'll get my coat.
