What happens to TPMS on wheels on a L322

am looking at some 22" wheels from a L405 to fit on my L322, but a lot seem to have TPMS fitted, what happens to this when fitted to the L322? Unsure of how it works?

(Not fussed if it doesnt work, is is a case of just not connecting it up?)

Do you have TPMS on your L322 ?

The car needs the system installed to work. If you don't have it, then the valves in the wheels will just do nothing. You need the sensors in the wheel arches.

If you do have it, then the earlier wheels are compatible with the L322 system, but the L405 got a new system around a year ago, so new valves are not backwardly compatible.

Mines a 2003 TD6 so pretty sure it hasnt got it (to my knowledge anyway)

So I can just fit the L405 wheels and leave the valves in as they are? Just didnt want to buy a set of wheels and have to spend out more getting them modified or something because of the TPMS

Correct - just fit them as normal Thumbs Up

They are basically a metal stemmed valve that bolts in & has a small box of electronics on the inside of the wheel.

Perfectly fine to leave there - of whenever you get new tyres, you could remove them & have rubber valves fitted.

They used to have a problem with corrosion and valves snapping at >5 years or so old - so I'd be tempted to swap them out anyway if you don't need them, but certainly no rush to do that.

Thats great, many thanks Alistair, think I'll treat myself to a set this weekend.

Do you know what type of wheel bolts I will need?

Bolts fall into 2 categories and are wheel specific.

The 05 and earlier wheels had a narrower shank than the 06 and later wheels - the thread was the same, but the bore on the wheels was different. If you use old bolts on new wheels, they will shake themselves loose - so get the right ones Thumbs Up
