TDV8 3.6 noisy belt?

My 2007 has developed an annoying squeaky belt sound which seems to be getting louder, I sprayed the fan belt with water and the noise temporarily went away.

I havnt seen any posts before describing this or if the belts require replacement at some interval mine has 250,000 kms. Just wondering if anyone has had the same, it could even be a noisy idler

At 90k miles (150k km) i had also a noisy belt on my supercharged.
Replaced belt and all gone now.

Belt still looked good but was a bit 'glazed'. MY2008 Buckingham Blue Supercharged - gone

Check the 2 idler pulleys and tensioner pulley too. The bearings dry out and become noisy.

Quite cheap to buy and can easily be replaced once the belt is off.

It could be the bearings on the Alternator on its way out. Might pay to check it at a garage, as exactly the same happened to me and I had to get recovered.

Thanks Guys,

I sprayed a little silicon on the belt and it seams to fixed as the squeal has since gone.
