2 million now. Up from a million 5 hours ago. So at that rate by this time next week......

Yes it's a democratic decision, and we have to stand by that, however imho the voting was split between a nostalgic vote to leave based on how the country was 40 years ago, and bolstered by a bunch of illiterate Jeremy Kyle watchers half of who wondered why we were voting out of the Euros when we had only just got to the knock out phase.....

I'm no fan of the way that the EU is run but the principle of free movement of labour and the right to go and live where you want is something that folks in my age bracket think is a brilliant thing as do many of those who had bought property is France and Spain with a view to retiring there.....

My brother in law is Dutch and lives in London, fortunately for him he has been here 10 years now so is a naturalised Brit. The problem for the uneducated folks who voted to "get rid of the immigrants" is that most of them don't realise that those which are here now won't be sent home. Many are now permenant residents under the 5 year rules in any case, so their votes were cast on a spurious "Farage" wave of xenophobic rhetoric most of which was utter BS. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Typical Leave voter then Rolling Eyes

What made me rally laugh was the number of 2nd generation immigrants who seem to have voted leave because of immigration Shocked

One person, one vote has a lot to answer for - it should have been means tested IMHO Whistle but the result is the result

Macro economics is a difficult thing to explain to the uneducated- but ho hum - I'm sure Boris, Gove & Farage are the guys to trust.....

The arguments are laughable - yes you're more likely to get a hospital bed without no immigrants - but there will be no doctors there to treat you.

At least we have 2 years - I'll wait until the next independence vote, use my grandparents as an excuse for my Scottish passport and keep my options open.

Just been watching sky news interviewing out voters who explained they voted out in order to keep England as English as possible.
I thought the referendum was about the whole of the UK and it's relationship with Europe and our economic future. I had no idea it was about being English.

Yeh I'm peeved about the result. I voted objectively not subjectively and not only that, I'm annoyed that we gave the vote to the lazy long term spongers and others who have no contribution to make to the future of the UK. The only people who should have been allowed to vote were those in full time higher education (their future was at stake) and those who had contributed a minimum of 10 years tax and national insurance contributions.

If we had voted out under those circs it would be easier to accept. But accept it I must. Travelling around in circles again.

As someone who spent 6 years in higher education and 19+ years working and paying tax I voted leave. Put that in your sanctimonious pipe and smoke it. Banging Head

Love it.

So far, on this forum alone, those who voted to leave have been labeled as;
lazy, uneducated, racist, narrow minded, illiterate 'Jeremy Kyle watchers' (WTF with that one!), somehow harking back to the 'good old days' but most of all the underlying impression being that the 'leave voters' are somehow lesser human beings. How very dare they go and win our referendum!

I am neither of the above...but I'm beginning to see that there are distasteful people on both sides. Evil or Very Mad Current:

What if we voted again, and it was the same...would they want best of five?
How ridiculous!

I'm in the leave camp, not for defiance, but, for the long term. Forget all the panic of the plummeting pound, it's already back to a level equal to somewhere earlier this year, and shares that dropped were already gambling, on the predicted remain outcome, they only lost their winnings.. So please, think long term.
Just imagine a situation, like a dictatorship, where you cannot ever vote out the 'firm' that runs the EU. Imagine if it become like FIFA, or North Korea. We can vote out any leader of this country, even chuck him out on a 'no confidence'. However, we are about to use our fire alarm, to leave, via article 50.
After a short bumpy period, we will ALL have our chance to shape our own futures. As the UK leaders, will have to account for their actions. Yes, I will choose when to vote them out, as and when they lie, deceive, and break their manifesto pledges... (Remember ...the tuition fees, and now the 'tens of thousands').....Because we can! Because we are British, we are democratic. Razz
We nearly slid into a huge mess, with an ever increasing financial burden, and now the cross border tsunami, that our beautiful Kingdom, cannot sustain. Along with a deficit, seemingly out of control.
The People of this country are from all walks of life, cities, towns, corners, and yonder, and all have as much rights as the policy making elite, and elected, right through all working men and women, even when incapacitated. (But not when in jail!)
The Public, have now used their trump card to tell Europe just how British we are. It was not a flash in the pan. It was not a vote for Nigel Farage.
The whole world was watching, the world blinked a few times, mouths open, just like we did in our own homes, agog at the screens and the figures. The World will watch us, and learn.
There is no better opportunity for such a civilised country to show those around them, how to thrive.
We are coming out of recession, and I'm surfing......on the first wave!

I don't agree with the line at the bottom of the picture, but like the picture!

How do they know the majority of older people voted to brexit?? Was it a poll carried out by the same people who said REMAIN would win??

But didn't you ALREADY have an in/out referendum to settle it? Sometime in the 1970s?

I think everyone likes to keep voting until he gets the answer he wants.

Quebec has had two votes to separate. If they thought they had the numbers, there'd be another one asap.

Not quite sure how they know the percentage of voters of each age, I was always led to believe your vote was secret! Got enemies? Good, you have stood up for something in your life.

Never regret growing old, it is a privilege denied to many.
